There are two locations this year! Wellington and Auckland. The United Nations ball aims to provide a fun, no-pressure evening that lets you meet other singles, whether you are on the search for your prince or princess, or just out for a good time. We've had huge interest so far and expect tickets to sell fast, so get in quick!
Of course the point of the evening is to meet new people, so you will be seated for the meal with people you are not likely to know, as well as one or two you do. You will be asked during the registration process to name a friend you would like to be seated with, and we will aim to seat everyone at a table with an even ratio of males to females.
The theme of the evening is United Nations so come dressed representing any country of your choice. Those preferring the standard "European" ball wear will be in no way out of place!
The evening in Wellington will include a buffet dinner and dessert, with entertainment throughout, including two very entertaining MC's, a live band; Jonny and the Dreamboats, go to www.jonnyandthedreamboats.com to find out more. There will also be optional activities which you can register separately for, including beginner salsa lessons and speed dating... why not give it a go!?
The location is The Brierley Theatre in the grounds of Wellington College, its on Dufferin Street just off the Basin Reserve, a classy, secluded setting for a spectacular night. Limited onsite parking is available at an extra cost of $5 per vehicle, with the added bonus of security provided. There will be both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available on the night.
Of course we'd like to have an approximately even split of girls and guys, so we have limited ticket sales to 200 of each gender. Tickets will be released in lots, early bird prices will apply for the first 50 sold, and if you're not in early, girls may have to go on a waiting list, as typically guys register a lot slower than girls do.
The evening in Auckland will include a buffet dinner and dessert, with entertainment throughout, MCed by the comedian/magician Justin Sane, and live band; Allegro. There will also be optional activities which you can register separately for, including beginner dance lessons and speed dating... why not give it a go!?
The location is Fale Pacifika at the University Auckland a traditional Pacfic island building, a classy venue perfect for this years theme. Onsite undercover parking is available at an extra cost of $5 per vehicle, entrance is on Grafton Road underneath the new Business School building. There will be both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available on the night.
Of course we'd like to have an approximately even split of girls and guys, so we have limited ticket sales to 150 of each gender. Tickets will be released in lots, early bird prices will apply for the first 50 sold, with seated dinner provided for the first 180 people (90 each gender). If you're not in early, girls may have to go on a waiting list, as typically guys register a lot slower than girls do.
"I regret that I won't be participating in the Christian Singles Ball this year. I'm actually engaged to a man that I met at last year's ball and planning on getting married in November. Funny how things work. We get to tell people that we met with him dressed as a knight and me as a princess. Guess what the figures will be on the top of the wedding cake?" - Chris
"I'm glad you are giving the ball another go, it was a brilliant event. If you organised events like that as a profession, I am sure you would do very well out of it. The activities; such as speed dating, a dance lesson, and eating a meal together made it very easy to meet and get to know people. That was a stroke of genius. If I happen to be single when the next one comes up, I'd definitely go again. It was a superbly organised and thought through event." - Mike
"People would be crazy not to give it a go....I did & it was totally worth it."- Karen
"I was very apprehensive before, particularly as it was a themed party! But it was a great night, well organised, with great food and fantastic music. And I met my Musketeer, which made all the nerves worthwhile. He's an amazing guy and I consider myself very lucky to have met him, so thank you for the opportunity - and for the dancing!" - Robyn
"Once I decided to jump outside my comfort zone I was rewarded with a great night. A really well organised event, fantastic entertainment and meet some lovely people" - Aaron
"AWESOME ball Becs and Jade and everyone else involved that night! Man, you guys sure know how to throw a good ball! The food was yummy, the host was funny, the band was super fantastic and the people were fun. Great idea!" - Naveena
"The feedback I received from people I know that went was all good. I thought the venue and meal and band was all good, couldn't fault it. Here's to a bigger and better one this year but most of all to people getting connected!" - John
